Peter Dalton

Peter Dalton is an accomplished emergency management professional with more than 40 years of experience spanning military service, provincial government, healthcare, energy regulation, and regional emergency management. Throughout his career, he has led and supported complex incident responses, emergency preparedness initiatives, regulatory development, and stakeholder engagement programs that have strengthened resilience across British Columbia.

Peter’s emergency management journey began early when he successfully suppressed a fuel fire at his family’s business, preventing injury and significant damage. The experience sparked a lifelong commitment to public safety and earned him recognition from the Governor General of Canada.

His professional career includes military training and operational experience in hazardous materials response, firefighting, damage control, and nuclear emergency preparedness. Following his military service, Peter became an active member of British Columbia’s TEAMS deployment program, supporting communities during major emergencies and disasters throughout the province.

Peter has contributed to responses involving wildfires, floods, avian influenza outbreaks, pipeline incidents, public health emergencies, and large-scale public events. During his time with the Ministry of Health, he served as Communications Chair for the federal-provincial pandemic communications working group and Co-Chair of the Pacific Northwest Emergency Management Arrangement (PNEMA) cross-border health communications group.
